Programming Languages for Mainframe Computers ...

Mainframe computers have become an integral part of the modern world. Flexible and easily adaptable mainframe application has numerous uses and it is an indispensable tool for utilizing the mainframe technology. Programming a mainframe system is not the same as the programming of other computers. It?s different in many aspects. The OS and the hardware of the mainframe are completely different and they are very complex. So a programmer has to do hard work for writing codes for this machine. COBOL is the most used and well known programming language. Except this there are some other modern languages which are also being used these days for programming the mainframe. PL/1 is a high level commercial language which has English syntax. C or C++ is a graphics based object oriented language which use is increasing day by day. IBM?s main OS which is Z/OS supports Java language which is also an object oriented programming language. There are other languages such as REXX, CLIST, HLASM and FORTRAN etc.
