A distinguished group of 16 delegates from Chinese hospitals, research centers, and universities visited Hanover last week to collaborate with Dartmouth experts on how to advance health care in China and the United States.

?Dartmouth is delighted to host this decorated Chinese delegation and further strengthen our commitment to tackling the world?s most challenging health care issues,? said Al Mulley, director of The Dartmouth Center for Health Care Delivery Science and professor of medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine. ?We?ve had insightful and productive conversations throughout the week, and we?re looking forward to putting these ideas about health care into action.?

The visit, which spanned three days, included meetings that focused on approaches to health care delivery, patient-physician relationships, and local and global initiatives. The delegates also received tours of campus, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and Dartmouth Health Connect, which is a primary care practice for Dartmouth employees.

Qiao Hui Hong, director of the Division of International Cooperation at the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning, says she will take many new and tangible ideas back to China.

?Our commitment to Dartmouth is that we will not just talk the talk, we will walk the walk,? said Qiao.

This was the second Chinese delegation to travel to Dartmouth since the College?s Board of Trustees signed a five-year agreement in 2011 to collaborate with China?s National Health and Family Planning Commission. Dartmouth physicians and faculty members have also traveled to China for to collaborate with health officials in Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Suzhou. This year?s visitors to Hanover came from Shanghai and Suzhou.

In addition to this partnership, Dartmouth has had a relationship with Beijing Normal University for more than 30 years.
